BIO

Dmitry Gorodetsky,  currently a Los Angeles based musician, was born in Russia, former Soviet Union and moved with his family to the U.S. at the age of 10. His family bought a home in Massachusetts, an hour west of Boston so there was lots of musical inspiration nearby.

He began playing music early on starting with drums at the age of 3 and then exploring piano, guitar, trumpet and then finally settling on upright and electric bass.  Music became the main focus in his life by his teenage years and countless hours were spent on practicing. Dmitry studied with local teachers and was inspired by many jazz musicians from the area. He played his first professional gig at the age of 14 and so began his career as bassist. He played and studied a lot of jazz eventually performing with saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi, drummer Bob Gulotti amongst many others in the Boston jazz scene.

As he got deeper into music his musical taste evolved. He was inspired by everything from Jimi Hendrix, Beatles and Rolling Stones to Hip Hop to Blues as well as funk and R&B and pop music. While still in his teenage years he even ended up traveling to Europe with a symphony orchestra playing upright bass. Specifically on bass his influences range from Jimmy Garrison, Ray Brown and Sam Jones to electric bassists like Pino Palladino, Anthony Jackson, Louis Johnson, James Jamerson and Larry Graham. As for more contemporary and local to New York bassists Dmitry is influenced by bassists James Genus Jay White and Dwayne DW Wright. Dmitry has performed, toured and recorded with the following artists. Charlie Puth, Tweet, Duke Robillard, Roomful of Blues, Lauryn Hill, Fantasia, Eric Benet, Kenny Lattimore, Vashawn Mitchell, Wycleffe Jean, Rita Ora, Cheryl Pepsii Riley, Nas, Christina Aguilera, New Kids on the Block, TLC, 50 Cent. He has toured all over Europe, Middle East and the Carribean as well as US and North America.
